The 16th World Congress on Parasitic Plants (WCPP) took place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 3-8 July, 2022. Over a 100 participants from all over the world attended the meeting, most of them on site, some of them online. The meeting featured talks on parasitic plants, from wild, endangered, species to damaging agricultural weeds, and from ecology to molecular biology and control. This first WCPP after the pandemic again facilitated discussion between scientists from all over the world and working on all these different topics. A field trip to Embu county allowed the participants to see Alectra vogelii (Orobanchaceae) that has emerged as a novel threat to agriculture in Kenya.
The success of the 16th WCPP was also due to the generous support of our sponsors: ICRISAT, Kenyatta University, the journal Plants People Planet and The International Parasitic Plant Society (IPPS).
